The well-known American sports journalist Stephen A. Smith has offered up another divisive viewpoint. Known for his versatile opinions on all things sports and pop culture news, Smith has taken the headlines recently. This time, he has shed light on the renowned NFL legend Tom Brady and the New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick. All this comes after Shannon Sharpe’s apology to Tom Brady.

The New England Patriots’ recent game against the New Orleans Saints paved a serious defeat for them. It has now opened doors for some serious speculation, as the Patriots were soundly defeated by a score of 34-0. Host of ESPN’s show, ‘First Take,’ Smith recently opened up about the New England Patriots’ performance with Shannon Sharpe. As they discussed Belichick’s role as a head coach, Smith chimed in with fierceness. Talking about it, he said, “If I’m Robert Kraft, the owner of the New England Patriots, I’d call Bill Belichick… into my office, and here’s what I’ll tell him, you are no longer the GM, the football decision maker for this franchise. You can coach. But that’s it. You’re not the deciding person any longer.” But that was not all from the 55-year-old.

Adding to the conversation, Smith said, “And if Bill Belichick did not accept that, this would be Bill Belichick’s last season in New England.” Smith did not just give his statement in the show. Proving them with facts, he poured in about Belichick’s “records.” Something Tom Brady has excessively contributed to.

Smith analyzes Belichick’s records

Discussing Belichick, Smith added, “I would never sit up there and say that Bill Belichick is just another coach. But I can say his records say so.” This statement served as a testament to what Smith was trying to establish. Smith said, “I can say that his record without Tom Brady as his quarterback in 10 seasons is 79, 72 rather and 79, with two off-play appearances.”
