Tom Brady and Dave Portnoy are alumni of the University of Michigan. Their alma mater’s football team has been at the epicenter of a controversy that is yet to find resolution. Amid all these, the Wolverines would take on their biggest rivals, the Ohio State Buckeyes, in a winner-takes-all clash. Whoever wins will face the Iowa Hawkeyes on December 2 for the Conference championship.

Tom Brady and Dave Portnoy enjoyed a conversation ahead of this pivotal clash. They recalled some of the biggest games in the rivalry in recent years as per the former. Brady referred to the clashes between the sides in 1997, 2001, and 2005 as some of the biggest ones. Portnoy and Brady both graduated in 1999.

Tom Brady took to his X handle in reply to a tweet posted by Dave Portnoy, who’d shared the video of the pair shooting the breeze. Brady wrote, “#MichiganVsEverybody. It’s that simple.” Portnoy posited that this was the biggest clash in the history of the rivalry, given all that surrounded the Wolverines presently. Brady suggested there were others with greater importance attached to them. For instance, Ohio State played Michigan in 2005 on the back of an 18-game winning streak. He also had fond memories of the clash in 1997.

Tom Brady and Dave Portnoy were there at Ann Arbor to see Charles Woodson claim the Heisman Trophy in 1997. Brady missed out on that accolade during his collegiate career. That was the third Heisman in Michigan history following Tom Harmon and Desmond Howard. Now, current quarterback J.J. McCarthy is being touted as a potential Heisman winner.

Tom Brady and Dave Portnoy still intently follow their alma mater. They are doubtless proud of the Wolverines, despite the off-field drama surrounding the team. Portnoy, in particular, has been vocal during that situation. He posited, at one time, that Michigan consider leaving the Big Ten conference. Though it was not the hiding he’d predicted a while back, Michigan emerged victorious over Ohio State once again.
