Dave Portnoy is as straightforward as they come. He has always defended his alma mater, the University of Michigan, in the face of the sign-stealing controversy. Portnoy predicted his team would do away with their biggest rivals when they met on the gridiron. The Wolverines made that come true, beating the Ohio State Buckeyes 30-24 on home turf.

That made it three wins in a row for the Wolverines against the Buckeyes. It represents their biggest winning streak in the rivalry since 1995-97. Jim Harbaugh’s side made it their second consecutive season with a 12-0 regular season record. Dave Portnoy celebrated his team’s win while also taking shots at Ryan Day, the Buckeyes’ coach.

Dave Portnoy took to X to share a snippet from the Barstool College Football Show post the clash. Besides that, he added the words, “My dog of the week is Ryan Day. Dead dog s*****g.” In that clip, Portnoy stated, “My dog of the week is that absolutely disgusting, dead dog, crybaby, cryin’ Ryan Day.”

Dave Portnoy further derided Ohio State’s performance in the game at Michigan Stadium. He noted, “Harbaugh kicks the s**t out of you every year. And all you do is hire your little brother and his investigation firm because you can’t beat us on the field. We’re running the ball up the middle. How hard is it? You still can’t stop it.”

The Wolverines do the missing Jim Harbaugh proud

Despite missing head coach Harbaugh from the sideline for the sixth game, the Wolverines finished the regular season unbeaten. They will take on the Iowa Hawkeyes for the Big Ten Conference championship. A win there would take them to the post-season NCAA tournament. Incidentally, Harbaugh is 1-6 for Michigan in Bowl games.

Michigan is still under investigation by the NCAA, with that set to conclude well after season’s end. The Wolverines are not out of the woods yet. To some extent, any further punishment meted out to them could be softened by an excellent post-season. They are the defending conference champions following their wins in 2021 and 2022. There is no question they are the favorites to make it three in a row in that regard.
