Dave Portnoy is unrelenting when it comes to supporting his alma mater, the University of Michigan. He defended them all throughout the sign-stealing scandal surrounding the football team and will continue to do so. Portnoy’s mood was celebratory following Michigan’s win over arch-rivals, Ohio State University. That guaranteed them a spot in the Big Ten Conference championship game. They must beat the Iowa Hawkeyes to qualify for the post-season NCAA tournament.

At the time of that win, Michigan was nationally ranked the no. 3 college football team, with Ohio State just above them. The latter’s chances of making the playoffs are rather slim, though there is hope. With the release of the latest playoff rankings, Michigan now occupies the second spot behind Georgia. Ohio State dropped to sixth. Following this, the Barstool President shared his outlook on the same.

The El Presidente took to X to share his elation as Michigan trounced Ohio. Dave Portnoy replied to a tweet from Unnecessary Roughness, a Barstool Sports podcast. He hoped Ohio State would make it to the playoffs somehow, just so Michigan could beat them again. Portnoy wrote, “I honestly hope Ohio sneaks in so we can beat the hell out of them again! If it were up to me I’d play Ohio every week! We’d never lose!”

Additionally, Dave Portnoy expressed his distaste for the Ohio State Buckeyes. He noted the Wolverines would play the Buckeyes every week were it entirely up to him. That way, he reasoned, “America’s team” would never lose a single game.

It remains to be seen if Michigan will face Ohio State during the playoffs this season. The latter’s route to the same is much more circuitous in comparison. Moreover, with Jim Harbaugh’s 1-6 record in the Bowls with Michigan, they have cause for concern. Will this be the year he sets that record straight? Only time will tell if that will prove to be the case.
