Dave Portnoy would go to war for his team, the New England Patriots. He has never shied away from admitting the same at every opportunity that arose. Portnoy bats for the Patriots even when others consider them a lost cause. The Patriots are presently reeling after a start that sees them 2-7 for the season. Despite that, Portnoy continues to champion them.

For instance, Portnoy saw the second coming of Tom Brady in the relatively inconsistent Mac Jones. He believed Jones could lead the Patriots to another Super Bowl, perhaps he still does. Portnoy backed the Patriots, or rather just one of them, once more ahead of their game against the Indianapolis Colts at the weekend.

Mike Gesicki most likely to score a touchdown, per Dave Portnoy

Dan Katz, a member of the Barstool Sports staff, tagged, via a post on X, a number of NFL players he thought likely to score a touchdown at the weekend. Replying to the same, Dave Portnoy gently chided him for not including New England Patriots’ tight end, Mike Gesicki, on that list. Portnoy added that Gesicki was most likely to score a touchdown at the weekend. He further noted there was no better chicken dancer. Portnoy wrote, You forgot to tag most likely TD scorer and best chicken dancer @mikegesicki.”

For context, Shake Shack is offering free Chicken Shacks nationwide. A minimum $10 purchase is required to get a free Chicken Shack. The condition here is at least one NFL player must incorporate the chicken dance as part of their celebration during the weekend’s games. Dan Katz hoped for such a celebration following a touchdown and tagged a bunch he believed could make it happen. He tagged players such as George Kittle, Gardner Minshew, Josh Allen, and Jared Goff, to name but a few. Dave Portnoy, Barstool Sports CEO, was briefly unhappy with Mike Gesicki’s exclusion from said list.

Mike Gesicki has been part of the Patriots for a year

Mike Gesicki joined the New England Patriots only this year on a one-year deal. So far this season, he has 19 receptions, 160 receiving yards, and the solitary receiving touchdown to his name from nine games. That touchdown came in the last-second win over the Buffalo Bills in late October.

It is unclear if Dave Portnoy’s prediction will come to pass. Gesicki’s statistics this season do not inspire a great deal of confidence. The 4-5 Colts will play the Patriots on Sunday at Deutsche Bank Park in Frankfurt. It remains to be seen how well either team does on neutral turf. Will the Patriots get into their stride as Portnoy hopes? Will there be free Chicken Shacks provided across the United States following the weekend’s games? Let’s wait and watch.
