Dave Portnoy is a Swiftie down to every cell in his body, and a loyal one at that. He dons his battle armor for only three entities: his alma mater, the New England Patriots, and Taylor Swift. Portnoy defended all three every chance he got, though he too has been harsh in his more recent assessments of the Patriots.

Taylor Swift was in the stands during the Kansas City Chiefs‘ most recent game against the Buffalo Bills. That game ended in favor of the Bills, 20-17. It was not without its shades of controversy, as a late Chiefs touchdown was chalked off due to an offside. Dave Portnoy had something to say about Swift walking past the tunnel where the Bills’ players waited pre-game.

Taylor Swift’s show of support gladdened Dave Portnoy

Dave Portnoy took to X and shared a short clip of the same. He added the words, “Bad b**h walk and everybody knows it.” Taylor Swift walked past where the Bills waited. The Bills let out a short war cry after she went past and then began running through the tunnel onto the field.

Taylor Swift’s presence at Arrowhead Stadium was not enough to galvanize the Chiefs. The Bills prevailed courtesy of a late field goal by Tyler Bass. That gave them the lead, with 1:54 remaining on the clock in the fourth quarter. All they had to do was hold on for the win. It looked like they might have a difficult week compounded further via an audacious play from the Chiefs.

Superb play from the Chiefs chalked off

With a little over a minute left in the game, Travis Kelce threw a lateral across to Kadarius Toney after a pass from Patrick Mahomes. Toney scored the touchdown, but there was a flag on the play. He was given offside. Replays later confirmed Toney’s foot had crossed the line of scrimmage, though an offside being called on an offensive player is a rarity. After that, the Bills held on for the win.

Dave Portnoy had backed the Bills in the past. He swore off gambling, very briefly, after they lost to the Philadelphia Eagles 37-34 in their previous game. Portnoy had grievances about the refereeing calls in that game, particularly a foul on Josh Allen that went unnoticed. While Taylor Swift continues to be a good luck charm for Kelce, the Chiefs are now 4-2 with her in attendance. Portnoy, for one, found her show of support for her beau heartening.
