Dave Portnoy’s alma mater, Michigan State University, faces a daunting task again. As the Rose Bowl inches closer, the playoffs will see the Wolverines facing off against the Crimson Tides on January 1st. The match-up is being hailed as the best game of the 4-team College Football Playoff. Amidst the controversial sign-stealing allegations, the Wolverines look to continue their winning ways in collegiate football.

The Michigan team is on its way to winning another Big Ten conference title, despite head coach Jim Harbaugh being suspended by the investigating authorities. After a win over Iowa at the conference, the Michigan Wolverines will now have to toughen up for their New Year’s Day date with the Crimson Tides. Talking about the upcoming football game, Portnoy believes Alabama has much to worry about as the Wolverines are riding the high tide.

Dave Portnoy picks his favorite in the Rose Bowl

Appearing in a talk show, the Barstool Sports owner Portnoy stated with conviction, “Michigan is going to beat the absolute p*** out of Alabama.” Dave also reminded the egging crowd that Alabama’s quarterback isn’t the best player out there and has a shortcoming when it comes to throwing the ball. Portnoy also drew parallels with his favorite team, the New England Patriots, to highlight how both the Patriots and the Crimson Tides are shadows of their former selves.

El Presidente said that the Patriots have not been the same since Tom Brady left. Their decline can only matched by Alabama, who also isn’t the team that they used to be from decades ago. Pointing at this, Portnoy claimed that the Wolverines have a pretty solid chance of trouncing over Alabama in the Rose Bowl.

The gathered crowd also seemed to pay more heed to Portnoy’s words after he mentioned the NFL superstar Brady. Reminding everyone that Tom Brady went to play for Michigan at one time, Dave sought to seal the Wolverines’ status as the superior team in the upcoming match between the two football giants.

Another Portnoy wager waiting to be placed?

Dave didn’t just stop at claiming superiority of his alma mater over Alabama. Despite the Crimson Tides having an all-time 3-2 record against Michigan, Portnoy claimed that he’s ready to put $1 million in cash on the Wolverines because he’s certain of the latter’s inevitable triumph.
