The St. Louis native played in 17 games for the Packers and finished with 84 tackles last season. His career graph is surging upwards gradually, and the Bears signing is one of the major stars in his NFL portfolio. The 29-year-old athlete made his NFL debut with the Arizona Cardinals in 2018 as an undrafted free agent. He then played for the Houston Texans as well before going to the Packers roster.

Owens took it to his Instagram story and affirmed his contract with the Bears, and the athlete will be receiving a whopping $4.5 million for the two-year deal. His latest signing has earned him a great upsurge in terms of salary, as his contract with the Texans for the same duration earned him $1,390,000 while he was getting paid $1.01 million for a one-year contract with the Green Bay Packers.

His net worth was reported to be around $7 million, which has increased lately, and it is going to get a big boost after the latest Bears draft. The secondary gains strength with the arrival of Owens, and he will complement the procurement of former All-Pro Kevin Byard. As per some reports, Owens will be playing as a backup defensive back and will be a primary backup for Byard and Jaquan Brisker. As Owens embarks on a new journey in his professional endeavors, his previous season has seen him grow as an NFL athlete.

His NFL career so far

The Missouri-based athlete played his maiden four NFL seasons as a starting safety with the Texans, which also included the 17-start season in 2022, and then he appeared in 17 games in 2023 for the Packers while featuring in 11 starts. In 2023, he recorded 84 tackles, including two for a loss, a single forced fumble, a sack, and three pass defenses. The first ever touchdown of his career also came in the same season against the Detroit Lions.

Among the 61 football safeties who played at least 600 snaps in 2023, Owens places at #50 in overall grade rankings, and it also includes postseason games where he earned 927 defensive snaps. With names like Kevin Byard, Jonathan Owens, and Jaquan Brisker joining the Chicago Bears roster, the team will be looking to make it big in the 2024 season.
