Lia Thomas’ NCCA Championship win has been marred with controversy ever since it came to the forefront. Notably, Thomas is the first transgender woman to win the trophy at the NCAA Swimming championships. However, there are many who have declared runners-up Emma Weyant as the real winner.

Governor of Florida, Ron DeSantis, has openly issued a proclamation that declares Weyant as the real winner. The proclamation makes several points about why Lia Thomas’ participation was unfair.

The proclamation supports Emma, and the motive is for her to be declared the winner of the NCAA Championships. The proclamation also talks about how women have fought for decades to get equal opportunities in athletics.

Caitlyn Jenner has backed this proclamation as well. She retweeted the Governor’s proclamation, commenting on how it made sense.

@GovRonDeSantis agreed! She is the rightful winner! @TMZ It’s not transphobic or anti-trans, it’s COMMON SENSE!,” tweeted Jenner.

While Jenner is in support of Lia Thomas being her true self, she does not believe it’s right for the swimmer to compete in the women’s event. According to Jenner, transgender athletes competing against biological women is highly unfair.

Jenner believes that Lia clearly has an advantage over the other women. Not to mention, Caitlyn has

tweeted several times before regarding the issue.“I am eager and willing to work with members of Congress to put an end to this politically correct ‘woke’ madness! To protect the integrity of women in sport!”

While people are questioning Caitlyn’s stance, she believes she is simply standing up for the rights of women in sports.
