The countdown to the most anticipated game in the history of Women’s NBA begins! The final WNBA game between the Las Vegas Aces and the New York Liberty is scheduled to be on 9 October, which has the whole WNBA world on its toes. Fans can’t wait to witness the powerhouse event. This time, the game is going to be equally thrilling for both sides as the teams are referred to as “Super teams” due to their star-studded showdown. The Las Vegas Aces have with them a WNBA legend, Candace Parker, two-time WNBA champion Alysha Clark, and the two-time MVP A’ja Wilson as well. But New York Liberty is no less worthy of the win. Breanna Stewart, a two-time MVP, would protect the honor of the Liberty.

With players so talented, the stadium is sure to be filled with fierceness. As the anticipation boils, someone famous in the ESPN world has already picked his favorite team. That someone is none other than Stephen A. Smith. But it looks like his affection and respect for the MVP, A’ja Wilson, is not enough to vouch for the Aces.

Known for his unfiltered and dynamic point of view, Stephen A. Smith is the personality that brings light to the NBA news. Recently, the host of the First Take show blatantly declared his pick for the WNBA championship. He said, “I’m going with the Liberty for the upset. New York has been starving for a championship. This is the best shot that we’ve had in lord knows how long.” If this was not enough to declare his love for the team openly, Smith also added some more declarations.

Smith’s views were shared on the First Take’s Instagram post. Smith said, “And I’m of the mindset that the Liberty gonna pull an upset. They gon’ to win the WNBA championship this year, I’m rolling with that. New York is desperate. We’ll take whatever we can get. New York stand up. That’s right!” However, his sportsmanship was also reflected when he expressed love for A’ja Wilson, who plays for the opposite team.

Smith said, “A’ja Wilson. That’s my girl. You know the level of affection I’ve got for her. Because I was coaching an NBA All-Star Celebrity game years ago…I got love for her. But that’s the one team the Aces have had a problem with this year… Ionescu and her crew, the Liberty.” This is not the first time Smith has had some interesting views about all things sport. Smith recently took a dig at the famous NFL player, Travis Kelce’s saga with the legendary Taylor Swift.

As has been said by Smith, Swift was, “hugging mama and stuff, hanging out, cheering on Travis Kelce as hard as she’s been doing, bringing Ryan Reynold’s with her, along with other others.” Hinting at the duo, Smith said, “I’m just saying it don’t look casual.” But the host was quick to point out about their privacy. “It’s their business.
