At 6’9′ and 215 pounds, a senior at John Marshall High in Rochester, Minnesota, became the 5th prospect in the Duke. Matthew Hurt is different from Williamson in many ways. Not many similarities can be found between the players. Hurt being more of a stretch players may need some more strength to become an effective and explosive striking defense.

As a member of the USA U18 national team, Matthew Hurt averaged 14 points and 5.3 rebounds, converting 12 of 20 shots from a 3-point range, according to a report by the Sporting News. This same team went all the way to represent the US in the U19 Basketball World Cup. Hurt scored an incredible 17 points in the U18 FIBA Championship in the finale against Canada. 50% of those 17 points were from a three-point range, with three rebounds and two assists. Matthew Hurt was the key player in the final and won the gold for the U.S.A.

Matthew Hurt chose Duke over North Carolina, Kentucky, Kansas, or any other team. Hurt had a strong 2022-23 season in the G league with Hustle. Hurt will return from Poland on October 2nd and will immediately begin training from October 3 with Memphis.

The 2023 FIBA 3X3 U23 Basketball World Cup kicked off on Wednesday morning in Lublin, Poland, two teams from the USA are competing for gold. Matthew Hurt is one of the players in the team USA going for golden glory. Hurt has shown incredible performance in the debut game with Japan contributing five points for the team.

The Jury is still out on what Legacy will Matthew Hurt go on and build for himself or the team. One thing is for certain though, Hurt has proved his caliber as a player.
