A former Chicago Bulls player who failed to make it big in the NBA recently triumphed in another major championship. The basketball player restored American pride by ending its 4-year championship drought. Representing Miami, the former Chicago Bulls player marched with his team and won the 2023 FIBA 3×3 World Tour Championship.

The NBA is the apex basketball league in the world and features 30 explosive teams. While the NBA allows big rosters per team, and basketball allows unlimited substitutions, the competition still remains cut-throat. Despite not making much of a dent in the NBA, Jimmer Fredette found success in another basketball league. Fredette posted a staggering individual score on the board to help the USA cruise to a dominating victory. In fact, the finals MVP secured a buzzer-beater to clinch the win.

Jimmer Fredette led the finals match in points and posted a brilliant match-winning 44 points on the scoreboard. Fredette also secured a top value of 50.1 to claim the 2023 FIBA 3×3 World Championship and the MVP title. Compared to this, his Chicago Bulls stint didn’t allow him many minutes and game time to shine through. The Miami team ended America’s four-year drought against defending champions Vienna. The USA cruised through fierce opponents, San Juan (PUR) and Ub Huishan NE (SRB) to reach the finals. While the USA entered the finals without suffering a single loss, Vienna also enjoyed an unbeaten campaign.

The evenly matched teams struggled hard to take the win. The late game saw a much-needed steal by Dylan Travis which granted the team an extra possession. This extra possession granted Fredette the last laugh as he shot a buzzer-beating three-point shot that left Vienna bamboozled. A tweet by FIBA3x3’s official X handle highlighted the winning shot and said, “JIMMER FREDETTE FTW! MIAMI ARE YOUR #3x3WTCebu CHAMPIONS!” While Fredette ended a four-year dry spell for the US, he also ended his own career drought after a failed NBA expedition.
