The FIBA 3×3 U23 World Cup is witnessing some highly energetic and action-packed plays. While the FIBA experience varies considerably from the NBA, certain players are bringing the NBA dynamics to international matches too. A recent match witnessed a national player killing a pro move that left fans stunned. A Japanese basketball sensation almost turned Poland’s Lublin into Dub City with a Stephen Curry-style bucket.

Kai Devon King from Team Japan put up a stellar performance in his match against Italy. The Japanese basketball star led the offensive charge for his nation while playing the pool D qualifiers. To the amazement of the crowd and commentators, King channeled his inner Stephen Curry and hit a picture-perfect three-pointer.

Kai Devon King is a 23-year-old basketball sensation representing his homeland Japan. The six-footer displayed an amazingly smooth jumper to hit a three from downtown to boost his team’s trailing score against Italy. The Stephen Curry faded splash came exactly when his team needed it, as Japan trailed behind by three points. The official X handle of FIBA 3×3 Basketball posted a tweet showcasing King’s finely executed jump shot.

The caption of the tweet read, “King looking like the Japanese Steph on this fade! #3X3U23.” King quickly got into position behind the arc to receive a quick pass while another teammate set him up with a hard screen. The player seized the moment and launched a beautiful Stephen Curry fade while an Italian defender tried to hinder the power play. However, the ball landed perfectly inside the ring, granting two points to Japan.

Three-pointer shoots in FIBA 3×3 count as one and a regular field goal gives one point. While this reduced the 14-17 lead to 16-17, Japan failed to conserve their momentum and win the match. Sadly, the Stephen Curry shot turned out to be the last point for Japan, and Italy won by 16-21. While the King couldn’t build on his Curry magic, USA’s Jimmer Fredette embraced his splash bro form to win FIBA’s 3×3 World Tour.
