Stephen A. Smith always defends what he likes. He got on Rich Paul’s nerves by naming Michael Jordan the greatest to dribble a basketball. LeBron James’ agent and he entered into a brief war of words. Smith stuck to his guns despite strong opposition from Paul. He even resorted to the usage of an expletive on ESPN’s First Take. Smith is nothing if not loyal.

Stephen A. Smith rushed to the defense of another famed institution on his eponymous show. The object of his rage on this occasion was a woman. As reported by the Daily Mail, the woman, Alicia, was to go on her first date with Jay, whom she had met in a bar. Jay picked Alicia up outside her apartment, where he waited for an hour as she got ready. There was more to follow.

Jay took Alicia to The Cheesecake Factory. She refused to get out of his car, citing her embarrassment at entering that establishment. Having recorded that entire exchange and posted the same to TikTok, the matter reached Stephen A. Smith’s eyes and ears. Smith had some choice words to describe Alicia. He said, “She’s snobby. I’m sorry, that’s the truth … She literally says, ‘He got me at The Cheesecake Factory, y’all. I ain’t getting outta this car.’”

Stephen A. Smith also reeled off a list of his favorites served by The Cheesecake Factory. Then, he posed the burning question. Smith asked, “First of all, what the h**l is wrong with The Cheesecake Factory? Ain’t nothing wrong with the Cheesecake Factory. Ain’t nothing wrong with The Cheesecake Factory!” Additionally, Smith posited it was impossible to have a meal at that popular chain restaurant for a small sum.

Stephen A. Smith pointed out that every meal at the Cheesecake Factory is a significant expense. He said, “… You can’t go up in there and spend $12! It costs you to pay for a meal and stuff like that, you’re gonna pay $80 to $100 for dinner at The Cheesecake Factory … My point is, what’s the problem with The Cheesecake Factory?” Smith, while not an ardent fan of the popular chain, was visibly upset at this turn of events.

The Daily Mail has it the date ended after Alicia’s refusal to exit the vehicle. That episode, however regrettable, did not spell the end for the couple. If they can agree on their values, they might try dating each other once again.

Stephen A. Smith might not be as forgiving. On the off chance history repeats itself, one might be forgiven for thinking Smith would hit a new decibel level.
