Great news for the basketball enthusiasts has come out. The young basketball players are eager to showcase their talent, as the FIBA 3×3 U23 World Cup has started. This tournament was launched in the year 2018 and since its inception, it has been doing very well. So, 2023 would be its fourth edition.

The fourth edition of this year commenced on Wednesday morning at the venue of Lubin in Poland. The quest is for the coveted glittering gold and the teams are ready to lock horns. So far, two USA teams have played. One from the men’s team and the other from the women’s team has played. The men’s squad has performed well in two matches so far by winning the streak.

Two wins for the National Basketball Association

The US Men’s Basketball team clinched victory in both matches by winning over Japan and Italy in the first pool match of Group D games. This was their first victory since 2019. The NBA G League Professionals led the USA team with a triumph over Japan with a score of 21-12. They still left one minute and 39 seconds on the game clock and secured their win. USA Volleyball puts the US victory as Two wins put the (USA Flag) U23 Men atop (hashtag 3×3 U23) Pool D after the first day.”

With a balanced USA score sheet, Matthew Hunt secured seven points in the game. He also represented USA Basketball in the 2019 Nike Hoop Summit. Another player, Bryce Wills, with prior 3×3  experience, collected 6 points. Trey McGowns and Jalen Lecque gained five and three points, respectively.

USA Men’s win over Italy

The US Men’s basketball team also secured their second round of a win over Italy. The final score on the scoreboard was 21-16. It was possible through a balanced scoring approach and a mid-game run. The US team fetched an 8-1 run through the 5:37 mark.

In the first half of the game, the Italians ceded their points with four fouls. Though they were trying hard to match the rhythm and pace, they were never close to a points gap. The referees declared the final score with 2 minutes remaining on the clock.

In the Pool, A Women’s basketball team held a record of 1-1. They secured their victory over Austria by 19-14, but by a narrow margin faced defeat by China. Dazia Lawrence led the team with 7 points in her debut match. The two-time gold medalist Cooke scored 6 points. In the last game, China downed them with a score of 22-20.
