On November 15th, Barstool Sports President, Dave Portnoy, graced his presence at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, where the Boston Celtics trounced the Philadelphia 76ers. The Celtics emerged victorious with 117-107, courtesy of standout performances from Jayson Tatum and Derrick White. Tatum recorded 29 points, eight rebounds, and six assists, while White had 27 points, three rebounds, and five assists. For the 76ers, the pair of Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey scored 20 points each.
Patrick Beverley also stood out for the 76ers but for entirely the wrong reasons. Dave Portnoy had mocked the point guard earlier. He posited the one in the costume of the 76ers’ mascot, Franklin the Dog, was taller than Beverley. That led to a hilarious back-and-forth on X. There were additional reasons for humorous jabs at the 35-year-old, but Portnoy relented.

Dave Portnoy took to X to express that sentiment via video. He wrote, “I don’t think I can post this @PatBevPod.” Portnoy voiced his thoughts thus, “This Pat Bev situation is getting so ugly that I don’t know if I can even make fun of him anymore. He’s had his ankles broken, he’s 0 for 2 from the free throw line, he’s 0 for 19 from the field. He’s got zero, zero, zero, zero. I may not even post this.“

To say Patrick Beverley had a torrid time of it would be an understatement. He spent only 10 minutes on the court. During that time, every attempt he made to get a bucket proved unsuccessful, whether from the free-throw line or elsewhere. He had just one defensive rebound and one assist overall. This clash between first and second in the Eastern Conference of the NBA ended in the Celtics’ favor.

Both the 76ers and the Celtics began this game with identical 8-2 records. The Celtics extended their winning streak to 4 games to edge ahead in the standings. Simultaneously, it was the second loss in succession for the 76ers. Moreover, the Celtics’ last loss was at the same venue, with the 76ers winning 106-103.

Dave Portnoy was on hand to witness Patrick Beverley have a tough game. In his last five games for the 76ers, he lasted over 20 minutes only once. Not once during that time did he get to double figures in terms of points scored. With this, his fandom now awaits for the next playoff, and see Beverley recover from his previous loss.
