Jackie Chan, grew up in a very strict and disciplined environment. The value of punctuality and discipline were clearly replicated in his life and parenting style. For example, when his son Jaycee Chan went to the States for his further studies, Chan noticed many habits in his child that the latter wasn’t ready to improve. As a result, the legendary martial artist had to adopt a stricter policy to teach his son some good lessons.?
The generation gap between Jackie and Jaycee was widened with the cultural differences that perpetuated after Jaycee went to the US. However, the iconic actor was committed to helping his son learn the right values, by any means necessary.
Jackie Chan split his house wiring to teach Jaycee

In his autobiography, Never Grow Up, Chan has descriptively written about the instances when he and his son didn’t agree on certain points. While growing up, Jaycee was apparently careless with resources like electricity.?
The Karate Kid actor revealed that after coming back from L.A., Jaycee would often forget to turn off the electrical appliances of his room. He wrote, “Every night, I would see his light on. I went to see what he is up to, but the place was empty.” Jackie asked him to stay mindful about switching them off. However, young Jaycee, blissfully stated that the light made him feel alive.?

As a warning, Chan stated that Jaycee would have to pay his own bills if he kept continuing the habit. However, Jaycee didn’t take his father seriously and repeated the same mistake all over again. In response, Jackie Chan called an electrician and split the wiring of the house. “From now on, you can pay your own electric bill, ” he told Jaycee. It turned out to be the last day when junior Chan forgot to turn off the light.?

While the strictness of the martial arts legend, says a lot about his principles, it wasn’t the only time his son received a tough lesson in an unusual way. Pao Pao had taken the tough road many times. The martial arts champion once also refused to hand over his legacy and investment worth $400 million to his son Jaycee Chan.

The aim was to teach him the value of money as his son was apparently taking it for granted. Chan revealed that he would donate his fortunes after his death, instead of giving them to his son.?
