Martial art legend Bruce Lee started his journey in America by giving martial art classes to bear his expense. Soon, Lee thought of making a business out of his combat teaching skills. After establishing his first martial art school, The Jun Fan Gung Fu Club in Seattle. Lee established his second branch in Oakland in 1964.
However, the deal with his new branch was a loss-making one for the master. It was allowing Lee to charge $15 per month for training. Even seven to eight students in that branch would not suffice for the overall rent of his school. Hence, Lee realized that he had to visit his Oakland branch for some time to increase his value among the people there.
When Lee told Linda about going to Oakland, she was scared. For her, Oakland was a dangerous place to go as she feared it would crush her month-old relationship. After a few weeks, when Lee was about to depart for Oakland, the couple learned that they were pregnant. This was shocking news for Lee, as he was not ready to take the responsibility of a wife and children before becoming successful. Still, Lee left expressing his happiness about the pregnancy news.
Lee’s departure filled Linda with insecurities, as she had deeply fallen in love with the master. Lee’s biography revealed the doubts in her mind, “What if I never see him again?” she thought. “What if he feels trapped? What if he changes his mind? What if he goes on to bigger and better things and forgets about me?”
However, Lee was not ready to leave Linda at any cost. Hence, after two months, he proposed to Linda to marry her by sending her a letter.
