If martial arts lessons were on the line, and one could choose their own teacher, Bruce Lee would probably make it to the top of the list. The man was fast, the man was efficient, and a perfect embodiment of everything that martial arts stand for. Unfortunately for the world, he is not there anymore to impart his teachings firsthand.
However, thanks to technology, we have words of his wisdom made eternal through many interviews that he gave. And in one such interview, Bruce Lee gave some tips on fighting without rules.
Bruce Lee And His Pearls of Wisdom

Bruce Lee practiced many different kinds of martial arts, and his knowledge of the discipline was extensive. It was extensive enough, that he was able to develop a totally novel category of martial arts, called Jeet Kune Do. A person who formulated his own philosophy definitely knew a thing or two about fighting.

Lee’s advice on fighting without rules was simple. According to him, “When you’re talking about fighting as it is. With no rules. Well then baby, you better train every part of your body,” and then he went on to showcase his skills in the video, and added, “And when you do punch.. now I’m leaning forward a little bit hoping not to hurt any camera angle. And then you gotta put the whole hip into it. Aaanndd snap it. And get all your energy in there. And make this into a weapon.”
Even in an informal setting, while giving an interview, one can see the dedication that Lee brought to the world of martial arts. Not only that, his fists are a complete blur, that’s how fast he was.
The Swiftest Man Ever?
Bruce Lee was one of the most nimble and fast people to ever exist. In fact, sometimes he was too fast for the camera. The average speed of Lee’s famous one-inch punch was around 118mph and he achieved this with a strict training program that targeted power, endurance, and speed.

His novel philosophy of martial arts, Jeet Kune Do, is what present-day MMA is based on. Bruce Lee’s legacy is something that will remain immortal forever. His teachings will inspire generations to come. He might have left the mortal world, but he lives on in our hearts and his wisdom continues to inspire lives all around the world.
