In his book, Never Grow Up, Jackie Chan mentioned that there was one stunt that he didn’t want to perform. Which led to him delaying the stunt for a long time. Days passed by, and he kept making excuses on set because of this one stunt.
When Jackie Chan made excuses
The stunt he was about to perform was pretty dangerous. Even the film producers Raymond Chow and Leonard Ho, who were present on that day warned Jackie. The stunt was so dangerous that even the producers were aware of it.
The producers did ask Jackie to replace him as the stuntman and use stunt doubles. Jackie refused to do that, as he knew that they were also humans and that they would be scared after seeing the stunt. Jackie knew that it was time to take matters into his own hands.??For six days running, I found a different excuse to avoid shooting that scene,??Jackie said, and continued,??One day, I?d say the overhead light didn?t work. The next, the sky was too cloudy. The day after that, the sunset wasn?t right.??
The legend ignored the stunt for six straight days. He made excuse after excuse, and no one could even say anything to him.?
“On day seven, the sunlight was perfect, and I climbed the clock tower once again, my heart thumping,”?Jackie?added. This time, he wasn’t able to avoid it anymore. He had to do it, which made his heart beat a lot faster. Although sometimes Jackie had a change of mood. But he has had a significant career in the movie industry only because of his early expertise in martial arts.
Jackie Chan’s broken bones
The legend is also known for breaking every single bone in his body because of stunts. During his prime, there was a lack of equipment, which led him to do the stunts by himself. Sometimes stunts didn’t go as planned, which ended with him in a hospital bed straight off the movie set.
