The 1973 cult classic, ‘Enter the Dragon’ is famous for many reasons. Prominent of all is the protagonist of the action-drama movie. And, who would have better pulled off the role of a martial artist than its demigod, Bruce Lee himself? However, other than Lee?s commendable cinematic prowess, the 1973 film took the front seat for its behind the scene anecdotes, which are still reminisced by its cast and crew. Interestingly, we now have another intriguing tale of the Little Dragon, shared by Lee?s close acquaintance and co-star, Bolo Yeung.

Yang Sze, professionally known as Bolo Yeung is a retired Chinese bodybuilder and martial artist. In Enter the Dragon, Yeung played the role of the villain?s sidekick while Lee played the lead protagonist. Although Yeung doesn?t take a liking to media attention, he recently appeared in an interview and profoundly talked about his friend, Bruce Lee. Let?s take a look at what Yeung has to say about the Little Phoenix.

Bolo Yeung reminisced about his co-actor Bruce Lee

In November 2022, the Chinese bodybuilder finally broke his silence to talk about Bruce Lee. Interestingly, his Mandarin interview was translated into English by Beerdy-Bruce Lee Central. During the talk, Yeung opened up about Lee?s persona and shared several tidbits from the sets of Enter the Dragon. He stated, ?Bruce Lee was often challenged on the set of Enter the Dragon?.

The martial artist added, ?Bruce didn?t want to fight but he felt he was forced to?. He further asserted that ?an extra wanted to test Bruce Lee?s Jeet Kune Do? skills. However, the fight didn’t last long. Conceding his swiftness, Yeung said, ?He kicked the extra in the head and the fight was over. Bruce was too fast?. Clearly, Yeung was impressed by Lee?s fighting prowess. He expressed his reverence for Lee?s outstanding speed by saying, ?His speed was incredible?.

Lee and Yeung?s friendship

The friendship between the two legends brewed back in 1971, on the sets of a cigarette commercial. After one year of their impromptu meeting, Lee approached Yeung to work with him in his next movie. Interestingly, Yeung accepted Lee?s offer and agreed to share the screen with him. And, that?s how Lee and Bolo became the lead actors of Enter the Dragon.?
