Martial arts legend Bruce Lee influenced millions around the world. From common people to celebrities, every individual tries to imbibe a little bit of him in them. Legendary NBA player Kareem Abdul-Jabbar is one such personality who practiced martial arts with Bruce Lee. Recently, a video of the 7?2?? tall NBA player practicing side kicks in Bruce Lee?s backyard went viral.

The retired NBA legend has won many accolades to his name. Kareem was introduced to Lee through a common friend since he too had an interest in acting. He also starred in Bruce Lee’s film Game of Death (1972).?
Bruce Lee’s backyard is filled with many memories of Kareem Abdul Jabbar
After playing basketball, Kareem wanted to explore his talent in martial arts. While in his college years, he learned Aikido, when he met Lee, he learned Jeet Kune Do, from him. As the duo also shared a love for acting, they got an opportunity to act together in the movie Game of Death.

Lee trained Kareem in several fighting sequences. Recently, Lee’s official Instagram page shared a rare video of the NBA legend in his backyard.?
It showed Kareem practicing side kicks on Lee’s student, Herb Jackson’s shield with a wooden box. Kareem kept side-kicking Jackson while Lee and the martial arts instructor kept keenly observing. The rare video was shared with the caption:
Bruce Lee?s backyard. Kareem works on his sidekick. Correction – ***Herb Jackson bravely stands in. Bruce Lee and Dan Inosanto give a watchful eye. Shannon and Brandon Lee look on from the table.
Bruce and Kareem became great friends during the practice session. The two legends also shot a fantastic fight scene together.
What was Lee and Kareem’s first meeting like?
Kareem met Lee for the first time when he was at UCLA looking to continue his martial arts studies. Lee befriended Kareem within a few seconds of the meeting. The latter had assumed that like most martial arts instructors, Lee would also be stiff and demand immense respect.

Moreover, both Lee and his wife Linda taught Kareem eye-widening martial art demonstrations that blew his mind away. Evidently, Bruce Lee’s legacy goes beyond his movies or martial arts skills – it lives on in his memories.
