Houston Astros to win big in the 2022 season?
The Houston Astros had a wonderful 2021 season. They won the AL West and also made it to the World Series. In the last 5 years, the Astros have dominated Major League Baseball. They have won the AL West four times, including a three-peat (2017, 2018, and 2019). While they have also made it to the World Series three times, winning once in 2017, and once again they are eyeing the World Series this season.

As per FanGraphs’ lockout projected ZiPS standings, with 91 wins the Astros will win the AL West this season. Though the number of wins is fewer than the previous season, they will have the upper hand against all teams in AL West.

Last season they won 95 games to claim the AL West. What is more surprising is that even if the Astros end up losing their star player Carlos Correa, they have the best chance to win the World Series along with the AL. Notably, Correa is in his free agency and is unlikely to return to the Astros.
The prediction also states that their closest competitor, Los Angeles Angels, will win only 81 games this season. Even after having MLB star Shohei Ohtani in their squad, the Angels will come second to the Astros, as per the model.
