Barstool Sports founder Dave Portnoy tweeted on 4th September about the Trevor Bauer-Lindsey Hill saga. He stated that he had refrained from speaking on the matter until now due to the lack of available facts. However, he now believes that it’s evident the prosecutor’s version of events may not be credible. Portnoy further captioned ?Regardless his life was ruined for 2 years by media playing judge + jury. All people who rushed to condemn Bauer should be issuing an apology that is as loud as the condemnation was. And again, maybe let cases like this play out in court where they belong + not on social media.?

Portnoy called on those who had rushed to condemn Bauer to issue public apologies that matched the level of their initial condemnation. He also stressed the importance of allowing cases of this nature to play out in a court of law, rather than resorting to judgment and condemnation on social media platforms. Portnoy also shared a video about the legal claims between Trevor Bauer and Lindsey Hill, which revolved around allegations of se*ual assault, have been settled in civil court “with prejudice” and subsequently withdrawn, with no payments exchanged between the parties.

In Bauer’s defense, he presented messages suggesting that Hill referred to him as her “next victim” even before they had met and that she had discussed trying to extract money from him. According to Bauer, crucial pieces of evidence, including a video recorded by Hill while she was in bed next to him as he slept, were intentionally and unlawfully concealed from him and his legal team, further complicating an already contentious legal battle.

Bauer was initially placed on administrative leave by MLB in July 2021 but was later suspended for 194 games by an independent arbitrator in December 2022. The settlement comes after Bauer had sued Hill for defamation in April 2022, and Hill counter-sued for se*ual battery. With their respective claims now withdrawn, Hill will receive $300,000 from her insurance company, which will be placed in a trust account with her lawyers’ offices.
