The MLB lockout is fast starting to seem like a never-ending machine. Having started more than 80 days ago, the lockout has prevented any key roster upgrades for several teams; and has now even extended to cancel regular-season games for the fans. However, the players, too, have a different outlook on this than the league and have maintained throughout the lockout that this was never on the cards for them. Recently, Mike Trout took to Twitter to react to the same and fans followed suit.

Mike Trout spoke out on the micro-blogging site regarding the ongoing lockout and Fernando Tatis Jr. gave him his full support. Trout, someone who rarely makes his opinion known through social media channels, picked his opportunity to make his opinion known. And it is not looking great for the League, considering the public backlash. Plus, with the League now canceling games, the internet had much to say.
Mike Trout speaks Out
Many, however, seemed to acknowledge the gravity of the situation simply because Mike Trout, a usually quiet Twitter resident, was taking things into his own hands.

Trout set out clearly that the players were looking for an uninterrupted season from the start. Said Trout, “Players stand together. For our game. For Our Fans. And for every player that comes after us. We owe it to the next generation.” Fans, however, seemed to be more taken up by his use of social media than by the message he put across.
You know how much you have to mess up to get Mike Trout to use social media for more than plane emojis??? https://t.co/wRqCSEsflz

Even other players like Fernando Tatis Jr. added to Trout’s story himself, reposting the statement with a crown to signal what he meant.

And while some fans were happy that the player had opened up regarding his stance on the matter, there were others that made his choice of medium an even bigger factor. Trout initially posted only on Facebook before submitting to the herd and also taking to Instagram stories.

And fans were fully backing the player in what he said.

Trout at the receiving end of another shortened season?
Fans seemed outraged at the prospect of not having another go at a full season with Trout there.

One fan just wanted to watch Trout back on the diamond. And it seemed as though the rest of Major League Baseball did not much matter to him.
I just want to watch Mike Trout play baseball.
Figure it out.

Why does the Internet love Trout?
The Internet, of course, had its own reaction to Mike Trout and the lengthened off-season. Morphing a picture of the athlete may not be high on some fans’ list, but apparently not this one.

And for all his activity on social media, it still seemed as though Trout approaches the digital space a bit differently.

Trout certainly seemed to opine strongly on the ongoing lockout. And with several fans speaking out too, it certainly seems the public opinion is with the players. But where do you stand on the lockout? Do you agree with Mike?
