The ongoing lockout has been a curse for the game of baseball. Even after three months of work stoppage, the owners and the players’ union haven’t settled on the new CBA deal. Notably, the Players’ Union, led by Max Scherzer and other senior MLB players, has been advocating for the young players for a while now.

Earlier, the owners had reportedly given a deadline of February 28th to the players’ union to agree on the collective bargaining agreement. But now, since the players’ union didn’t agree to the owners’ proposal, the league might not start on time.
Max Scherzer stands by the young players amidst MLB lockout negotiations
The Players’ Union not agreeing to the new CBA before the deadline means the regular season will lose a number of games. However, the resilience of Players’ Union representatives has definitely been a huge support to the young players. After all, this fight for the CBA is majorly for the benefit of the young players of the league.
The players’ union is still on its stand to increase the compensation of young players. While addressing the media on Tuesday, the New York Mets star Max Scherzer said that the union wants the owners to fairly compensate the youngsters of the league.
“We as players want to address that and obviously raise their level of compensation up relative to lead revenues,” said Scherzer. “We still feel there’s dollars to be allocated towards them that would fairly compensate their contributions on the field more so than what’s on the table at this point. And as players, we recognize that and continue to fight for those guys.”

However, while many agree with their stand, this news of the delay in games will be devastating for baseball fans, because it is still not sure when the regular season will start. It has already been three months since the lockout began. And it seems like fans will have to wait a bit more to watch the games in ballparks.
