Christian Yelich is one star of social media. And with the lockout still ongoing, he too has taken to Twitter to entertain himself over the past few days. Just coincidentally, this has entertained some baseball fans too. The Milwaukee Brewers’ left fielder is coming to terms with some of the pitching talents across the league. And Yu Darvish is high on that list. Yelich had at one point sub-tweeted the Padres’ pitcher, denying that anyone needed help to face him. But Yelich might just be changing his tune.

Yu Darvish started on the Texas Rangers in 2012 to start out his career but has since moved across the league. Featuring in a variety of sides, ranging from the Chicago Cubs to the Los Angeles Dodgers, Darvish currently plies his trade at Petco Park for the San Diego Padres.

And despite a steep drop-off in the second half of 2021, the Padres will expect a kicker of a season in 2022. Especially with a roster re-energized. And the Petco Park mound too can expect some solid pitches from Yu Darvish. To add to the build-up, if nothing else, it appears Darvish will have Yelich locked and loaded.

Christian Yelich changes his opinion

What’s the difference between a batter ignoring a pitcher and recognizing his skills? Apparently, it’s 803 days. At least if we are to follow Christian Yelich’s journey of discovery. He recently tweeted to Yu Darvish recognizing the dangerous pitcher and his deliveries from the mound.

The Milwaukee Brewers’ left fielder had set up significant social capital by first tweeting to the Padres pitcher. In November 2019, a year still unaffected by the pandemic, we saw Yelich tweet to Darvish, saying, “Nobody needs help facing you.”

But in what now appears to be a severe backtrack from his initial opinion, Yelich has tweeted again. And this time, Darvish has caused him to stand up and take notice. Yelich has recently tweeted, “As a man of integrity I may need to acknowledge the mounting evidence that we may in fact need help facing you.”

The first time he had tweeted the Padres pitcher on a tweet, where Darvish had explained some of his pitching technique. But Yelich’s second tweet was in reply to a media outlet’s tweet that set out Darvish’s slider and how tough it might be to hit that delivery.

Looks like the pitcher may finally have gotten the respect he deserves. And if nothing else, this will make their face-offs next year way more interesting.
