The regular season of Major League Baseball is still more than a week away from its opening day. However, in the meantime, college-level baseball games are proving to be even more entertaining. Recently, a college-level baseball player, Wyatt Langford, pulled off something extraordinary in the ballpark.

Since his heroic performance, the Gators star has been the talking point on the internet. Notably, such college-level games have been hugely benefitted from the regular season delay in MLB. And once the regular season starts, it will give tough competition to baseball’s biggest league. 

Florida Gators star Wyatt Langford’s all-round efforts put the opposition on the back foot

On Tuesday, during a college-level game between the Florida Gators and the FSU, Wyatt Langford of the Gators single-handedly saved a home run and dismissed a batter on consecutive pitches. 

At first, the Gators catcher jumped at the boundary ropes to deny a home run, and on the very next ball, Langford took a sliding catch to end the innings. Commentators and spectators were awestruck by Lanford’s efforts for his team.

Well, such performances are not a surprise anymore, because even the college-level baseball games have upped their level this season. While the regular MLB season is yet to begin, such games have proved to be of saving grace for baseball fans, who longed for some entertainment in the lockout-driven season.

The video is currently making rounds on social media, and given the difficulty of the catch taken, it might also win the “Catch of the Year” in 2022. However, the season is far from finished, and hopefully, we’ll get to see more of such performances in 2022.

After a delay of more than a month, the regular season of Major League Baseball is all set to kick off on April 7th. On the opening day itself, MLB’s fiercest rivals will clash with each other. As per the schedule, the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox will play the first game of the season, that too at the Bronx.
