The logic behind the double role concept of Ohtani is to portray his two-way playing style. Notably, the Los Angeles Angels star is equally good as a pitcher and hitter both. In the Nintendo promo, one Ohtani introduces himself as a pitcher while another one presents himself as a hitter. Also, this is the first time that MLB The Show will be available on Nintendo Switch System.

Earlier in January, Sony named Ohtani as the cover athlete of MLB The Show 22. He beat the players like Carlos Correa, Freddie Freeman, and Juan Soto to appear on the cover of The Show 22.
