The New York Yankees are probably not having their best time in free agency. But their new signee Josh Donaldson has already won the hearts of the Yankees fans even before the start of the regular season.

Notably, a few days ago in this free agency, the Yankees acquired Josh Donaldson from the Minnesota Twins. Meaning, the former Twins’ third baseman will be playing the 2022 season for the Yankees.

Until now, the Yankees have produced some of the biggest baseball talents in Major League Baseball. And Donaldson has won the hearts of many fans by naming one of the Yankees legends as his favorite player.

The Yankees are arguably the most successful team in MLB’s entire history. And since the inception of the Pinstripes, many top players have played for them. Babe Ruth, Joe DiMaggio, Derek Jeter, and Mickey Mantle are only a few to name.

Earlier on Thursday, during a spring training game between the Yankees and Detroit Tigers, Josh Donaldson revealed that Mickey Mantle has been his favorite baseball player. Donaldson revealed this in a rapid-fire round of questions by the MLB Network. He also revealed that in the future he would like Brad Pitt to play his role in his biopic.

Recently on March 14, the New York Yankees acquired Josh Donaldson in a five-player trade from the Minnesota Twins. Along with Donaldson, the Yankees have also got shortstop Isiah Kiner-Falefa and catcher Ben Rortvedt from the Twins. While the Twins acquired Gary Sanchez and Jio Urshela from the Yankees.

With Donaldson coming to the Bronx, the Yankees will also have to pay his wages ($50 million) in the next two years. Considering his last season’s performance (26 homers) for the Twins, the Yankees will be expecting him to perform on the same level for them too.
