Los Angeles Angels fans were hoping for just one thing, an injury-free season. But, yesterday, April 17th, 2022, Mike Trout left the field injured after being hit by a pitch on his left hand. The incident took place during the Angels-Rangers game at Globe Life Field, Texas. Despite all this, Los Angeles won 8-3, increasing their lead over the other clubs in the AL West Division.

Los Angeles Angels star Mike Trout’s injury
In the 5th Inning against the Texas Rangers, Mike Trout got hit by an 81mph slider by pitcher Spencer Patton. He immediately dropped his bat, as it was imminent that he was in serious pain. It hit him near his wrist area as he left the field with the medical staff and trainers.

Mike Trout had to conduct some X-rays and medical tests first. The X-ray reports came after a while and they were negative. This means that Trout is now day-to-day. Day-to-day means that there is no specific date when injured players will return.

Mike Trout gave an update on how did the hit take place. Trout said, “It’s just one of those things, I guess. I couldn’t really see out there with the shadows. Like on a normal day, I’d probably just turn and just get hit. But it was a battle to see the ball.”

After the game and the tests, Mike Trout’s manager, Joe Maddon, was interviewed. He gave an update on Trout’s injury status.Maddon states, “It’s kind of a sore thing. It will be a day-to-day thing. We’ll check with them (medical staff) tomorrow and hope we can get him back soon. The way he reacted when the play hit him, even though it was a slider, it was 81 (mph). He was in more pain than you would think. It is likely that he (Trout) sits tomorrow.”
