Why should the New York Yankees rethink before signing Trevor Story?
In the current MLB market, free agents, Carlos Correa and Trevor Story are probably the shortstops in high demand. But the Yankees might not sign either of them, regardless of how desperately they need one.
As per NJ.Com, the Yankees are not looking for a long-term solution for their shortstop position. In Anthony Volpe and Oswald Peraza, the Yankees already have a couple of good shortstop prospects. And when the time will come, they will play them in the major league for the Yankees.

In that case, Story will have to shuffle his position, for which the former Colorado Rockies star is not ready. That is the main reason why the Yankees might not sign Trevor Story for their temporary problem.

And for the time being, the Yankees’ general manager, Brian Cashman, will look to carry forward with their third baseman, Gio Urshela, as a shortstop. Notably, Urshela played the 2021 season as a shortstop and had quite a pleasant season for the Yankees.
