Alex ‘A-Rod’ Rodriguez may only be known to the present generation as a business mogul, but he was once a bona fide baseball superstar. Starting his career in Seattle, Rodriguez made his way across the league. And he has the trophy cabinet to show for it. With three MVP trophies to his name and the 2009 World Series with the New York Yankees, Rodriguez is up there with the game’s greats.

But when he sat with Mike Francesa for a podcast, the radio host was glad to bring it back to how he remembered interacting with A-Rod. And how only Roger Clemens was similar to A-Rod.

Francesa talks about the situation many many years ago. Says Francesa, “A-Rod used to come up, during spring training, in his uniform off the field and come up and sit with us for an hour.”

Part of the media ecosystem even then, it was a simple action by A-Rod that made him stick with Francesa through what he had done. “The only two players I’ve had walk off the field in spring training in uniform and sit down and do that were A-Rod and Roger Clemens,” he added“and A-Rod did it all the time”

Needless to say, both of them had a smile as they thought back to a time gone by. Said Francesa, “So we go back a very long way, A-Rod and I.”
