“That Sh*t Is Not Easy”- New York Yankees Legend Applauds Pitching Star Nestor Cortes Jr. for His Epic Dive Against Cleveland Guardians

New York Yankees are on a roll in the 2022 MLB season. After having a rough free agency in 2022, the Yankees have turned the table around. When the 2022 season started, no one even imagined that the Pinstripes will be division toppers after 20 games. But things are working for The Bronx Bombers this season.

Talking about the Yankees’ success this season, it is all because of teamwork. In every other game, the Yankees have a different player to take them home. Sometimes it is Aaron Judge and Anthony Rizzo, while players like Giancarlo Stanton, Nestor Cortes Jr., and Joey Gallo have also been quite effective for the Yankees.

In a team where Gerrit Cole is a starting pitcher, it becomes very difficult for a not-so-famous Nestor Cortes Jr. to make an impression. But whenever gotten a chance, Nestor has always been an enormous help for the Yankees this season. His epic drive against the Cleveland Guardians has gained him a lot of attention.

Currently, the Yankees are on a seven-game winning streak. In a recent series against the Cleveland Guardians, Nestor displayed some athletics in the ballpark. His epic dive at the first base trying to tag a Guardians player was one of the best gameplay.

Recently, while talking to CC Sabathia on the R2C2 podcast, Nestor revealed that because of his height and weight, people still do not consider him a real athlete. “Everybody mistakes how I look and how little I am…,” Nestor said. “If I was minus 30 pounds, people would think I am a real athlete… You can only control your attitude and your hustle. And that is what I like to pride myself on…”

Reacting to this, a former Yankee and currently a host of R2C2, Sabathia appreciated the gameplay of the Yankees pitcher. He said it is crazy why people do not consider Nestor an athlete. But from his point of view, Nestor is a real athlete.

“You know what is crazy is that like people do not consider you a real athlete. But if you watch Nester’s pitch, you can understand me. He is a real athlete with all the stuff that he does and his delivery, being able to drive down… That sh*t is not easy to do,” Sabathia said.

Notably, Nestor has been an unsung hero for the Yankees. If given the right opportunities, he might become one of the best pitchers in the league.
