Carlos Correa and his free agency have been the centerpiece of discussions come 2022. The New York Yankees have been in the middle of an underwhelming stretch of results and as such will be looking for pick-me-up at least in off-season signing even if their regular season performance may fail to impress. And it appears despite having already signed 2020 Gold Glove winner Isiah Kiner-Falefa to their roster, the Yankees may not be done. And even players on the roster believe that there may be another signing in the offing. But could it be Correa?

Carlos Correa to the New York Yankees?

Despite various reports claiming that the Yankees have fallen short in their pursuit of Carlos Correa, reportedly the sentiment amongst the players remains strong regarding the signing. According to MLB Insider, Andy Martino, the transfer may still be on the cards.

Reportedly, the Yankees are expecting some major roster changes to go through to help the vibe around the Bronx. And while the fear of being traded is usually not the best environment for an athlete to operate in, the Yankees seem okay with the shake-up. Said Martino, “People are on their toes, and don’t seem to mind it.”

And while transfers out are something being talked about as well, it is the inbound Carlos Correa that forms the centerpiece of discussions. Said Martino, “There are players who still hope that the team signs Carlos Correa.”

Although admittedly it seems hard to gauge whether the signing will go through considering Yankees GM Brian Cashman seems to have taken a sojourn from media engagements. However, it is a known fact that the Yankees have done extensive background work on Correa; and reportedly, no one has told Martino that the signing is impossible. Said Martino, “It’s not dead in the mind of some players, at least.”

And with Aaron Boone too, adding to the air of mystery surrounding GM Brian Cashman, could a Correa signing be on the cards? Said Boone, “I haven’t seen much of Cash in the last couple of days, because he has been busy. I know those guys are working overtime right now.”
