Ever since the free agency has been reopened, almost every team has been making proactive in this period, except the New York Yankees. During the lockout, every baseball had expected the Yankees to go all out for Carlos Correa and Freddie Freeman.

But, the scenario has been just the complete opposite. First, the Yankees have probably lost Freddie Freeman’s deal to the Los Angeles Dodgers, and now they had almost lost Carlos Correa too. But seems like the deal with Correa is not off yet.

Notably, Carlos Correa has also been looking for the best long-term deal, but the former Astros shortstop has fins any suitable contract for him.

Is Carlos Correa’s deal with the New York Yankees still on?

The New York Yankees desperately need a shortstop in their roster. And after losing Freddie Freeman, Correa is possibly their last option who will provide a balance on their side.

But, here is the most important thing, apart from the Yankees, Chicago Cubs were also after Carlos Correa. And since the Cubs have reportedly turned down Correa to pay around $300 million or above. The Yankees are once again leading the race to sign him.

According to an MLB insider, Mike Dean, the Chicago Cubs are unwilling to pay near $300 million or above for Carlos Correa.

While another MLB insider, Hector Gomez, confirmed that now, the Yankees are the frontrunner in the Carlos Correa deal. Taking to his Twitter, Gomez said that the Yankees are willing to pay Correa $300 million or above.

Notably, after playing for seven years for the Houston Astros, Carlos Correa’s contract expired after the 2021 season. And since then the star shortstop is a free agent in the MLB market.
