The running narrative about the New York Yankees coming into the 2022 season was that they were a team looking to build; but with two games done, the Yankees seem more than prepared to take on the challenge. With a 2-0 record after two matches against arch-rivals Boston Red Sox, the Yankees certainly seem to be flourishing.
Giancarlo Stanton may have had a large part to play in the Yankees’ performance. With the hitter homering for fun to start the season, he even broke the famed Mickey Mantle’s record for most consecutive homers against the Red Sox.

Giancarlo Stanton enters the season as one of the highest earners on the Yankees roster. And with some positional versatility in the outfield, many expect that Stanton is not just on the roster as DH. In either case, Stanton seems to be doing the job for the Yankees offensively.
With home runs in both games to start the season, Stanton’s swing seems to be paying dividends. So much so that the hitter has even managed to break some records of other legends that were a part of the New York Yankees.
Giancarlo Stanton grabs the record for most consecutive games homered against the Boston Red Sox
Stanton played a part in the Yankees’ thrilling 6-5 win over the Boston Red Sox on Opening Day, contributing a homer at the bottom of the third to tie the game at 3-3 at that point. However, he played a bigger role in their second match on Saturday. Driving home a 2 runner play in the sixth inning to set up a 4-2 win against the Red Sox.
While his slugging effort came in a winning cause for the team, he also had some personal milestones checked with it.

Stanton became the first to notch six consecutive games with a logged home run against the Red Sox pitching staff. Continuing his streak from the 2021 season, including the unfortunate AL Wild Card game loss to their opposing team, Stanton broke Mickey Mantle’s 1954 season record of 5 with the hit.
Stanton seemed fairly comfortable with the record, though. When informed he had broken it, he commented quite nonchalantly. “I can’t say it’s the rivalry or anything. I’m doing my homework and getting the ball over the plate,” he said.
