The New York Yankees are one of the most successful teams in baseball. They have possibly one of the most enviable records in terms of World Series wins, having won it all 27 times, since their inception. But in the recent rankings by the Bleacher Report, which have set about the farm system rankings for every side, the Yankees have failed to rank within the top 20.
The Dodgers have taken the top spot with the Mariners and the Rays in close tow, but the Bronx Bombers are nowhere near the top of these rankings. Are the Yankees really looking at bleak prospects or is the rest of the league really shoring up their farm systems too?

The Yankees had a great batch of players with Aaron Judge and Co. arriving in the first team at around the same time; but with that crop turning 30, it might be time to look towards more prospects. The next set of ‘Baby Bombers’ are looking to make their way up the Yankee ranks and even if the Athletic’s article might not rate their ascent, fans on the East Coast certainly will.

Prospects like Anthony Volpe have been mentioned in the article, but other positional players have not been considered. Jasson Dominguez, Luis Medina, and Oswald Peraza are all emerging stars just waiting in the wings for their chance at Yankee stadium.
The farm system rankings
The rankings featured the New York Yankees at #22, a drop of 8 places over last year’s #14 ranking. Mentioning that while the crown jewel of the Yankees prospects remains to be Anthony Volpe, the question remains about other position players.

The report mentions that there are several pitchers currently active in the farm system, perhaps more than the position players.

The article mentions that while the Yankees have always been proficient at improving the clicks that a pitcher can throw at, the lack of any real position players shifts the Yankees down this year.

However, with prospects like Jasson Dominguez staking a claim to a higher A ball this year, the prediction may well stand to change. The same goes for the shortstop prospects the Yankees are harboring. The Yankees may look at promoting from within, at least in the long term. Especially if the Correa signing does not go through and Volpe, Peraza, and Cabrera all stand to be in the mix.
All we can do is wait and watch on how the New York Yankees take shape, but if all goes well, they could certainly break free of the shackles of this article.
