With Jacob DeGrom spending a lot of last seasons out with an injury and marking his return this season, the Mets have also added Scherzer to their rotation in 2022. And the two will be taking the mound for the first time as a 1-2 in their game against the Cardinals.

The New York Mets seem to have bought through a new era (excuse the pun) with their pitching. Having signed Max Scherzer on a 3-year deal, the Mets are eager to get the title this year. And while many of the top pitching talents may still be ramping up to Opening Day this season, it seems as though the Mets are already set to go.

Reportedly, in their spring training encounter with the St. Louis Cardinals, the New York Mets have put up both Jacob deGrom as well as Max Scherzer on their pitching lineup. With DeGrom set to take the first 3 and Scherzer to take the remainder, he seems to be in pitching shape well before the season even gets underway.

The New York Mets announced the signing of Max Scherzer on a 3-year deal worth $130 million. And he seems set to give them their money’s worth in 2022. Ready to take the game head-on; the multiple-time Cy Young award winner seems to have ramped up just the right amount; and with Opening Day almost upon us, it couldn’t have been here sooner.
In an almost once-in-a-generation occurrence; the Mets will throw two multiple-time Cy Young Award winners in the same game against the St. Louis Cardinals. Speaking about the mound presence in the game against the Cardinals; pitching coach Jerry Hefner added, “That may never happen again. Pretty cool opportunity for fans and us to witness that.”

In a move sure to please Mets fans, and possibly even alter their fortunes for 2022, they seemed excited. Hefner added, “What an afternoon. What an opportunity for a family to come in and go to the yard to watch deGrom and Scherzer throw in the same game.”
