The New York Mets are looking like an emergent roster. With solid ownership ready to back the team it seems as though the Mets will be challenging for the title soon enough. And with the pieces of the puzzle fast falling together, the question asked is will it be enough? And with championship aspirations for the Mets, the answer seems to be in the negative.

Despite already being one of the most active operators prior to the lockout, the Mets might be looking to make another acquisition too.

The borough of Queens will likely be up to celebrate the Mets’ progression so far in the offseason. They have succeeded in reinforcing their pitching depth and also made some adjustments to their outfield, but there might be more in store. With the franchise up to still make some investment in the roster, newly appointed manager Buck Showalter recently set out that the Met’s business this off-season is still not complete.

The Mets’ outfield ostensibly currently consists of newly acquired signings Starling Marte and Mark Canha along with Brandon Nimmo as off now. And despite sporting Dominic Smith and Jeff McNeil on their roster too, it is more likely that they are trade candidates. Michael Conforto too seems to be in the conversation with manager Buck Showalter, but with the lockout still in full force, Showalter hesitated from engaging about the subject.

Showalter recently spoke to the media where he marked out the outfield as a potential improvement area through new signings. Said Showalter, “[The outfield] is something we have talked about, where we are.” Showalter has reportedly been speaking to general Manager Billy Eppler about the squad too and there seems to be some consensus on the subject. “It’s a scenario that we are examining to see if we feel comfortable with it. We’re always going to look within first,” added Showalter.
