The lockout in Major League Baseball has become a very serious crisis in sports. For the first time in the last 27 years, MLB canceled league games because of the disagreements between the owners and players. Apart from players and fans, none other than US Senator Bernie Sanders also weighed in the MLB lockout and slammed the owners.

Notably, the owners and the players’ union are yet to agree to the new CBA deal. The two sides did meet for the last 10 days, but they couldn’t find any solutions to the collective bargaining agreement. And the league ended up losing a number of regular-season games.

With this, US Senator Bernie Sanders was quite upset. He went on to criticize the owners and the league commissioner, Manfred.

Bernie Sanders blasts over owners and MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred

Earlier on Tuesday, after months of failed negotiation, MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred had to cancel the opening day of the next season. Notably, senator Sanders is a massive fan of baseball. And knowing that the owners are responsible for the lockout in MLB, he blasted over them.

“The 30 Major League Baseball owners are worth over $100 billion. Don’t let the greed of baseball owners take away our national past time.”

This is not the first time Sanders has questioned MLB. As per Business Insider, earlier in 2019, Sanders, along with other lawmakers, rose against Major League Baseball, when the league proposed to eliminate 42 minor league teams.
