With the MLB in lockout, an odd lull has settled over the off-season. With no trades or signings able to be discussed, it seems natural that conversation may slow down. However, when fans stay idle, they can do one of two things. Speak about when the lockout will end or discuss potential trades once the market opens. And a Freddie Freeman rumor taking him to the LA Dodgers seems to be the point of discussion recently.

While fans have been getting hyped about the first baseman’s potential move away from Truist Park, other players from the league are getting excited about the prospect of lining up with Freeman on their roster too. Max Muncy opens up about Freddie Freeman

In a recent radio interview, Muncy spoke about the prospect of potentially lining up with Freeman in 2022. Said Muncy, “Imagine how dangerous we’d be if we get him in that lineup.”

The LA Dodgers infielder spent all of last year’s postseason on the injured list, but he is expected back on the line-up come Opening day; whenever that is. With Muncy set to return in 2022 as well, that hitting roster could well strike fear in pitchers across the league.

And while the signing may throw up some positional issues for Muncy, it seems he is well settled with where he is. Sporting first base credentials, he might well adjust to playing from 2nd base as well. Muncy said, “It makes me really excited. Maybe it’s not as much first base [for me], but I think I’ve told you several times I enjoy playing second base more.”

And with the universal designated hitter too being finalized for the 2022 season, this could open up an interesting opportunity for the Dodgers. “I don’t think we’ll have a set DH, but that just means we’ll be rotating all around the field, and that, to me, is when it’s really fun,” he added.

Muncy’s offensive burden is set to see an uptick this year; with the departure of Corey Seager to the Texas Rangers, but Muncy looks to be ready to take on the pressure. Already a solid left-handed hitter, Muncy could well be set for a skill compatriot come 2022. But how realistic do you think this signing is?
