The MLB Lockout is drawing close to the 90-day mark and with opening day games across the league having to be canceled players are losing valuable practice time. However, it appears that Ronald Acuna Jr. is doing all he can to stay in touch. With a video recently surfacing online, Acuna Jr. does not seem to have lost his swing even a little bit and neither has he lost his style.

Ronald Acuna Jr. is a centerpiece of the Atlanta Braves, and he has been recognized as such particularly after the Braves’ 2021 World Series-winning campaign.

However, Acuna Jr. sat out a large part of the Braves’ run to the pennant; and albeit with an ACL injury, he is expected to make a return in 2022 (if baseball returns that is). And when he does, he looks ready to slash like before.

Ronald Acuna Jr. homers like before

Having undergone a season-ending injury in July, Acuna Jr. doesn’t seem to have missed a single beat getting back to baseball. Granted he is only playing in his native Venezuela and with youngsters that aren’t necessarily at an MLB level, but did that ball travel!

Acuna Jr. is back in his native Venezuela and appears to be spreading the joy there too as he takes to the diamond with some local kids. The ‘oohs’ and ‘aahs’ are more than audible as Acuna Jr. makes contact with the pitch; and pushes it over the fielders’ heads.

Acuna Jr. started the 2021 season on fire; slashing .283/.394/.596 with 24 homers in the 2021 season before the injury. The right ACL tear in July was at a time when the Braves were staring down the barrel at a 44 – 44 record unsure of their post-season fortunes. However, with the season entering crunch time, the Truist park faithful certainly delivered.

And while Acuna Jr. may not have been part of the winning roster, he was certainly a key component in their early season and will be raring to go come 2022. Fully healed and taking a home plate, the Braves too will be gladder for the offensive reinforcement. Especially in what now appears to be a shortened season, the hitter’s contribution will definitely be appreciated.
