The New York Yankees have a task for themselves come the 2022 season. With a World Series on their mind and a wild card loss fresh in their memories, they will be looking to build a squad to challenge ahead and bring back the pennant to the Bronx for the first time since 2009. And reportedly, they very clearly have a ready reinforcement ready and on the cards. That is none other than Atlanta Braves’ first baseman and free agent, Freddie Freeman.

Freddie Freeman failed to enter any agreement with his former team, the Atlanta Braves, prior to the lockout and reportedly has the Yankees ready to pounce now. With Luke Voit currently occupying the first base for the Bronx Bombers, Freeman will not only offer variety as a replacement but may also stand to offer an output upgrade. Freeman in pinstripes may be an exciting prospect, but whether or not it pans out is actually a developing story.

Freddie Freeman to the New York Yankees?

Freddie Freeman will look to add to the New York Yankees as a 32-year-old and a 5-year All-Star. Bringing considerable experience along with him, Freeman can also stand to add to the winning mentality that the Yankees will be looking to build. Fresh off winning the World Series, Freeman is sure to add that element. Being a lefty hitter too is a big plus for the Yankees, as they are in dire need of a hitter with some variety in their lineup.

The finances are the only thing however that remains to be discussed if the move is to go through. Reportedly, the Braves offered Freeman a five-year $135 million engagement, but the first baseman was after a 6 year deal with at least a $200 million commitment. However, the Yankees remain an interested party.

Reportedly, a source close to the Yankees also revealed, “He’s definitely still on the table.”

Freeman’s output

Freeman would add considerable depth to the New York Yankees offense with his projected output. The first baseman hit .300 in 2021 on his way to the pennant with the Atlanta Braves. He also garnered attention with 31 homers, 83 RBI, and a .896 OPS in 159 games on his way to the trophy.
