The MLB lockout has now stretched for close on 90 days. And with the parties still far on their points of agreement, it seems unlikely it will end sometime soon. Despite leading to canceled games already, the two parties are showing hesitance to hasten the negotiations and get a deal through the doors for the better of the game. And former MLB pitcher CC Sabathia opined that he felt it was high time some players spoke up too.

Speaking on his podcast, CC Sabathia opened up how throughout negotiations, while players were engaging with the media, they seemed to be a certain earning strata. And while Scherzer may represent the union, he is also part of the higher earners from the league. Sabathia, however, wanted to hear from some other players too about their opinion.

CC Sabathia shares opinion

The former pitcher made his thoughts quite clear. Appearing on his podcast, Sabathia wanted more players to come forward with their points of view on the matter. Reporting on the news Andy Martino, of SNY, too spoke about Sabathia’s statements in the meantime.

Sabathia mentioned that while Scherzer and Miller have been on the Executive committee; it seems as though that is too narrow a representation. Sabathia wrote, “I want to hear from the rest of the players and how they feel.”

Sabathia added to his statement as it went on as well. Mentioning that while there have been several players that have raised their issues with the league including Marcus Stroman, no productive dialogue has come from it.

With the lockout seemingly stuck upon consideration from both sides an agreement is seeming like a touch task. And with the league’s prescribed deadline of February 28th passing without a new deal in place, the season is now set  to be shortened. With commissioner Manfred announcing that the first two series for every team will be lost, another week is likely to lead to similar consequences.

However, with the negotiations seeming to move along closer to imposed deadlines, the two parties seem to be hard at work to get to an agreement.

Reportedly, the sticking issues seem to be the arbitration pool as well as the luxury tax on which there has not been able to be any agreement so far.
