With the MLB Lockout finally at an end, it seems normal silly season can resume. And with the most talked-about free agent in MLB right now in the balance, it’s not just agents and managers involved; Even players are pulling for Carlos Correa to finally announce his free agency decision.

As for Alex Bregman, he wants Correa’s home to be the Houston Astros. And he has made it clear that he is doing all he can to keep Carlos there.

Alex Bregman, the Houston Astros’ third baseman and Correa’s World Series-winning teammate, seems to be doing all he can to keep Correa an Astro. Bregman recently took to Twitter to post a video of himself after the MLB lockout concluded and a new Collective Bargaining Agreement was finally on the table. Among some interesting admissions, Bregman seems to be working hard to keep Correa at the Astros even into 2022.

Could Bregman convince Correa to stay?

While player chemistry is a sure-shot consideration, Bregman seems to have upscaled to a different level altogether. Bregman took to Twitter to post a video of himself answering a question as to whether he is trying to get Correa to stay. And the player went over and above to make sure.

The player, apparently answering a fan query when asked about whether he’ll continue to get Carlos Correa back to the Astros, seems to reply without missing a beat. Says Bregman when asked if he is in touch with Correa, “Oh all the time, everyday. About to call him right now.”

He even looks at his watch to mark the time as a part of it all. But realistically speaking, a Correa retention for the Astros doesn’t seem to be on the cards. The superstar shortstop has during the off-season indicated that he is looking for a 10-year commitment with at least a $330 million contract.

And while the Astros were certainly willing to pay for Correa, it appears that his asking price was over what they were willing to spend. Correa is one of the finest shortstops available in the league at the moment, and even though he is yet to hit his peak years, he already has a World Series to his name. If he is to sign a contract, perhaps his agent, Scott Boras, is correct- It needs to be the Mt. Everest of contracts.
