The world of entertainment and sport often collide. And when they do, they give us gems like today. A recent clip sees Milwaukee Brewers left fielder, Christian Yelich and Taylor Lautner engaged in a workout battle to see who the better athlete is. And in doing so, we get a better look at how both the men have done on their workout. Christian Yelich seems to have been more successful in terms of time spent on the workout contraption, but Lautner was not to be left too far behind.

The clip actually sees the two go head to head when it comes to workout on a specific machine, with their trainer egging them on to do better at their workout. With Taylor Lautner going first, he remains active in his workout, which seems to be some form of a rock-climbing machine involving coordinated movements of the hands and feet. Collapsing at the end of the workout, we see Yelich then take over and go on to work the machine for all that it is worth in a bid to outdo the actor.

Christian Yelich and Taylor Lautner go head-to-head

The video starts off with the rules of the workout routine being set. “Workout with elite athletes, they say,” says the trainer. “It’ll be fun, they say,” he adds.

The trainer announces that the first to 500 on the machine wins, to get the competitive fire in the two burning. As such, Taylor Lauter takes the prime position as he begins to work the machine. Setting a decent pace (the trainer’s words, not mine), Taylor seems to complete his set before setting himself down to rest on the floor next to the machine.

The star has reportedly lost 30 pounds in preparation for a role as a football star in a movie. Christian Yelich then takes over the machine, and seems to go about as hard as Taylor did initially, if not more. With the trainer egging him on, Yelich goes on to set a better time than Taylor. Tired, Yelich sets himself lying down after walking some ways from the machine.

Ostensibly, the man supervising the workout then walks over to Yelich, presumably to congratulate him on setting a better time and fist bumps him as he is lying down. “How do you feel my man?” he asks, holding up his hand. “Dead,” comes the reply from Yelich; However, we can’t blame him, most of us feel just that way after a workout.

A workout with elite athletes is certainly not everyone’s cup of tea. Even if you may have prepared for a role as one recently. Brewers fans though, should rest happy after seeing their star-left fielder not having lost a step this offseason. Whenever this season begins, we can be sure that Yelich will start it in top form.
