“Amazing News!!” – Alex ‘A-Rod’ Rodriguez Congratulates USWNT On Equal Pay Victory

In a big win for women across the board, equality is finally here. With the US Women’s National Team settling their lawsuit with the US Soccer Federation, the sports world seemed to all come together to laud the efforts of the USWNT and their efforts over the years and former New York Yankees icon, Alex ‘A-Rod’ Rodriguez was not to be left too far behind. Congratulating the team on this victory, A-Rod too joined in on wishing them on their success.

The US Women’s National Team settled their pending lawsuit agreeing to a $24 million compensation. Reportedly, the figure is contingent on a new collective bargaining agreement which needs to be ratified before the settlement is approved by a Court; but a deal seems to be in place. And A-Rod seemed all the gladder for it.

Alex Rodriguez posts to mark the occasion

Alex ‘A-Rod’ Rodriguez took to his Instagram to post a story marking the monumental decision. The athlete captioned “Amazing News!” on a background of the USWNT seen in a team huddle celebrating in their team jerseys.

The $24 million figure is only the tip of the iceberg for the USWNT. The distribution of the payout will be to give the players $22 million. With the remainder of $2 million to go to an account. This has been set up to benefit them “in their post-career goals and charitable efforts related to women’s and girls’ soccer.”

Commenting on how important this day was for the sport and for the USWNT, the team members opined. Said Megan Rapinoe, “I think we’re going look back on this day and say this is the moment that, you know, US Soccer changed for the better.”

Alex Rodriguez has also previously stated his interest in the development of women’s sports, and he seems to be sticking to his word. His acquisition of the basketball team, the Minnesota Timberwolves have come alongside their WNBA counterpart too in the Minnesota Lynx. Also, as a father of 2 daughters, A-Rod’s push for equality is an obvious statement.
