The end of the MLB lockout certainly bought with it a whole host of sighs of relief. And while the fans appeared to be the party happiest with that outcome, the players seem to be pretty stoked too. With the lockout finally at an end, and baseball action set to resume; Scherzer will take the mound with new gusto. Now part of an elite rotation for the Mets with possibly one of the most elite 1-2 combinations in the league, Scherzer’s excitement is likely warranted. And he seems to be waring well with his teammate.
With his pitching partner Jacob deGrom too delivering some solid numbers prior to his injury last season; the Citi Field is bound to witness fireworks from the mound. All that remains to be seen, however, is how far the Mets as a cohesive unit can make it under the tutelage of seasoned managed Buck Showalter.
