This MLB Team Draws a Higher Wage Bill Than Manchester United in 2022

The MLB is a financial juggernaut. And there is perhaps no better example of it than having a team with a wage total top the charts. The sport of baseball is perhaps central to America in popularity. Even then, to boast a franchise that allows for one of the highest wage budgets in the world is nothing if not an indication of the level of success of the sport. And the LA Dodgers have done it.

Baseball has become a money-spinner in recent days with global audiences on the rise. And while perhaps not comparable to its other commercialized counterparts across the world, it has done just fine for itself. Possibly the best comparison, however, presents itself in the form of a recent graphic making waves on Instagram.

The LA Dodgers boast the highest wage budget in the MLB

In a recent survey undertaken by an Instagram page, it was found that the Dodgers have the 4th highest wage bill in sport.

The page speaks mostly about soccer clubs from around the world and also features some NFL teams. However, the Dodgers remain the only MLB franchise on the list and have set out a large number of reasons as to why that may actually be.

While the usual suspects topped the list from the soccer world, many followers also expressed their surprise at seeing an MLB franchise so high on the list.

Paris Saint-Germain, or PSG for short features as the No. 1 on the list with an annual wage budget of £256 million. Barcelona FC and Real Madrid CF rounded out the top 3 with similar annual wage budgets.

Here it was the first surprise of the lot as the LA Dodgers rang in ahead of British football giants Manchester United FC with a wage bill of £193 million annually. Converted to dollars, the figure rises to roughly $263 million. Talk about tough to maintain.

The Los Angeles Dodgers – a team for 2022?

The NLCS saw some serious upheavals last season. With the Atlanta Braves running what a lot of people considered a serious upset in taking the NLCS pennant off the Los Angeles Dodgers, the division had surprising outcomes. However, it cannot be ascertained or assumed for any measure that the Dodgers are down and out.

The Dodgers were a 106 win team in 2022. Only a single win off the top spot in their division and this was with some deficiencies in the roster. They are sure to make a thundering return come 2022. However, no one can really say how far they will go again.

This time, however, the Dodgers will look to go all the way and put together a post-season run culminating in them hoisting the trophy. They certainly are paying for the squad to achieve those heights. Now it’s time that they performed commensurately.
